Standard Sugar Grinding System

Overview

For the grinding of crystallized sugar, Bauermeister offers several
different grinding systems, the choice of which is dependent upon the
degree of fineness required in the finished product.
• Universal and Gap Mills are offered for Icing Sugar.
• Roll Crushers of the Series 252 are offered for coarse Sugar distributions.

For several decades, Bauermeister Universal Mills have been used for the grinding of crystallized sugar down to icing sugar; these have traditionally been fitted with turbo or pin mill assemblies for fine icing sugar and cross beater assemblies for a coarser end result.

Universal mills are offered in 7 different sizes for throughputs ranging from 200 to 20,000 lbs/hr, referred to standard commercial icing sugar.

Bauermeister Gap Mills have proven to be particularly suitable for fine products of close particle size distribution and are therefore well suited to the production of fine icing sugar. They are built in 3 sizes for maximum hourly rates of throughput up to 20,000 lbs. These high-output mills operate with low specific energy consumption. Any reasonable particle size distribution can be met by either the Universal or Gap Mills, whether this be of fine or of coarse particle size distribution, when fitted with the appropriate grinding elements operating at suitable tip speed. Both types of mill can be fed by gravity or pneumatic conveyor, and the high air flow rates ensure that very little heat is imparted to the sugar during the grinding process.

All Bauermeister Mills and grinding systems are designed with the most stringent Safety Regulations in mind; the customer has the option of a 3 bar explosion resistant system, where pressure relief facilities can be provided, or 10 bar resistant if no pressure relief is possible.

Agitated bins can be provided by Bauermeister as an integral part of the plant; these are made in many sizes and can again be supplied in shock resistant design. Bauermeister Series 252 Roll Crushers are used in cases where crystallized sugar is to be reduced in particle size, without fines, to a close tolerance grind spectrum. The Bauermeister Type VWR 252 Roll Crushers can produce any fineness larger than 100 µm, with steep particle size distribution curve characteristics. Typical final finenesses for the two-pair Roll-Crushers VWR 252 are between d'= 100 µm and 360 µm.
